I-CHANGE Day: Temperature and water resources and climate change in the neighbourhood
Training is a key activity to build capacity and empower stakeholders to use climate information in their decision making and help them respond confidently and effectively to climate change. The Climate Adaptation Training theme provides an organised collection of material and links to different training courses, workshops and other guidance.
What is included?
We include material based on longer climate adaptation courses that run as (e.g. annual) meeting series or online e-learning courses; introductory level courses/101s, discussions of concepts, examples, tool summaries etc. are also among the different types of learning products available.
All of the training material published under this theme is open access and available for anyone to use. You may also use the buttons below to share your own content with the climate adaptation community and to discuss any training topics of interest.
| Learning Product | Description |
| Course | a set of classes or a plan of study on a particular subject, usually leading to an exam or qualification |
| Guidance on adaptation | a how-to guide to carry out climateinformation analysis, vulnerability assessment, adaptation planning and communicate ideas/findings |
| Guidance for trainer/facilitator | a how-to guide to deliver climate training activities with participants (eg. games/interactive exercises) or how to facilitate discussions/planning |
| Report on a workshop | a detailed introduction, activity, evaluation, discussion and/or conclusion of a past workshop/event |
| Workshop/event series | a one-off or series of workshops/events that involves inter-organizational collaboration and networking opportunities |
| Worked example | a description of a case study using a climate adaptation training method useful for illustration and learning |
| Definitions | a list of key concepts and principles; usually no examples provided |
| Toolkit | an overview description of a guide outlining purpose, contributors, who it is for, etc |
| Tool/method summary | an overview description of a method or tool outlining purpose, contributors, who it is for, etc. |
Categories
The material covers a range of topics in the areas of climate information analysis, vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning. The theme is divided into five topical categories (based on the PROVIA assessment framework and adapted for our purposes of covering the whole range of activities for which training is needed). Where training covers several of these categories e.g. SENSES Toolkit which covers, risk assessment, adaptation planning and low carbon futures, we have selected the most relevant category. An additional ‘category’ features articles that are hosted in other parts of the platform and are relevant for this Climate Adaptation Training theme – currently this includes material for learning and training for children and young adults.
