1 WHAT’S IN THESE TERMS?
1.1 These terms tell you the rules for using the www.weadapt.org platform; and the microsites(together the “Website”).
1.2 A list of our microsites covered by these terms is available at https://www.weadapt.org/microsites.
2 WHO WE ARE
2.1 The Website is operated by SEI Oxford Office Ltd (“we”, “us” and “our”).
2.2 We are a limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 04404220 and have our registered office at Oxford Eco Centre Roger House, Osney Mead, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, OX2 0ES.
2.3 We operate the Website on behalf of the “Stockholm Environment Institute” which is comprised of the following legal entities:
2.3.1 Stiftelsen The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), Stockholm, Sweden (including SEI HQ, SEI Asia, SEI Africa, SEI Latin America);
2.3.2 SEI Oxford Office Ltd, UK
2.3.3 SEI US, United States; and
2.3.4 SEI Tallinn, The Estonian Institute for Sustainable Development, Estonia.

3 TERMS OF USE
3.1 These terms apply to any person viewing, contributing to or otherwise using the Website in any way.
3.2 By using the Website, you agree to be bound by these terms.
3.3 Where we use the term “you” in these terms, we are referring to you as a user of the Website.
4 OTHER TERMS THAT APPLY
4.1 These terms refer to the following additional terms, which also apply to your use of the Website:
4.1.1 our Privacy Policy – at Privacy Policy – which sets out how your personal information will be used;
4.1.2 any third party terms which are referenced to be applicable to the contributions uploaded by other users (e.g. journal licence terms); and
4.1.3 where no third party terms are stated to apply to contributions, the Commons Creative Licence – at Creative Commons (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) – which sets out the licence terms upon which you may use any contributions on the Website uploaded by other users.
5 OUR COMMUNITY
5.1 The Website is an online “open space” community which allows you and other users to:
5.1.1 Learn –access information regarding climate adaptation issues;
5.1.2 Share – share information about climate adaptation issues (e.g. reports, journal articles, case studies); and
5.1.3 Connect – link with other climate adaptation professionals who share similar interests to you, including joining a “Theme/Network”.
5.2 We want the website to be a safe space that allows the exchange of information and research regarding climate adaptation issues. We would welcome users keeping to the ethos of the website by sharing information and research rather than providing political opinions or engaging in political discussions.
6 YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
6.1 We encourage you to upload contributions to the Website, which can include reports, open-access journal articles, articles, case studies, blogs, events etc.
6.2 You retain ownership of any contributions you make to the Website. However, any contribution you make will be considered non-confidential and the licence terms set out in this clause 6 will apply.
6.3 Where you upload a contribution to the Website you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, distribute and display, that contribution in accordance with these terms.
6.4 You acknowledge that the licence granted at clause 6.3 allows us to use, reproduce, distribute and share any contribution uploaded across the www.weadapt.org platform and all the microsites, irrespective of whether it is uploaded to a microsite or the www.weadapt.org platform.
6.5 Our licence to your contribution as set out in this clause 6 allows us to:
6.5.1 host the contribution on our Website;
6.5.2 share the contribution on our Website, including across all microsites;
6.5.3 allow users of the Website to access the contribution;
6.5.4 allow users of the Website to use, share and cite such contribution, subject to complying with the provisions of clause 8 (Your Use of Contributions) and clause 11 (Citing Contributions);
6.5.5 allow weADAPT and SEI to include contributions in its tools as resources granting them enhanced visibility e.g. the Connectivity Hub (https://connectivity-hub.placard-network.eu) or the Tandem tool (https://www.weadapt.org/tandem); and
6.5.6 share user data (contributor) across the Website including allowing access to such data by Website users.
6.6 This licence referenced in this clause 6 will remain in place even after contributions are deleted from (or no longer publicly available to users of) the Website.
6.7 You warrant that any contribution uploaded to the Website complies with the standards set out in these terms, including clause 16 (Your Conduct and Contributions). You will reimburse us in full on demand for any losses or liabilities we incur where you or the contributions do not comply with these standards.
7 YOUR DETAILS
7.1 You acknowledge that some of your personal details will be viewable by other users of the Website.
7.2 We will limit the personal details which can be viewed about you to:
7.2.1 Identity Data – your title, first name, last name, username or similar identifier;
7.2.2 Corporate Data – your job title and organisation; and
7.2.3 Content – your content and contributions shared by you on the website (e.g. projects, publications, etc) as outlined in our Privacy Policy.
7.3 You shall only use another user’s personal details (accessible as outlined in clause 7.2) for the purposes of using and benefiting from the Website. We may remove your access to the Website where we become aware that you use the personal details for any other purpose.
8 OUR WEBSITE AND CONTENT
8.1 We hereby reserve sole proprietary rights over all Website content that was not originally created by you or any other Website user. This includes all non-user-created text, graphics, photographs, logos, and other items that appear on the Website.
8.2 We also reserve proprietary rights over the Website’s template, including its layout and structure.
8.3 You must not copy or reproduce any of our content on the Website (including but not limited to modifying or reformatting it when you copy it). In particular, you must not use any part of our content on the Website without obtaining a licence to do so from us or our licensors. Any licence we give to copy content or use it will be subject to acknowledging us as the origin of the content.
8.4 If you copy or reproduce any part of the Website in breach of these terms, your right to use the Website and any content downloaded from it will cease immediately and you must destroy any copies of the materials you have made.
9 YOUR USE OF CONTRIBUTIONS
9.1 We maintain and operate the Website as a service and resource for the benefit of stakeholders involved in climate change adaptation research, policy and practice.
9.2 You may use or share any contributions available on the Website for the following purposes:
9.2.1 Professional, practical and academic research into climate adaptation issues;
9.2.2 Teaching and educational purposes.
9.3 Your use or sharing of any contributions on the Website from other users is subject to your compliance with:
9.3.1 any third party terms which are referenced to be applicable to the contribution (e.g. journal licence terms);
9.3.2 where no third party terms are stated to apply, the terms of the Commons Creative Licence – which is available at Creative Commons.
9.4 Any use or sharing of Website contributions by you that would limit or impart the availability or quality of these services and resources is prohibited. We reserve the right to take any actions required to enforce this principle.
10 CITING CONTRIBUTIONS
10.1 We acknowledge that you may want to cite contributions which are available on the Website.
10.2 Where you wish to do this, please refer to our FAQ for information on how to cite content found on weADAPT or its microsites.
10.3 For formal articles published as open-access peer-reviewed journals, please use the article’s own citation. This is often included as a ’Suggested Citation’ in the bottom of the article.
10.4 Your citing of any contributions and content on the Website from other users is subject to your compliance with:
10.4.1 any third party terms which are referenced to be applicable to the contribution (e.g. journal licence terms);
10.4.2 where no third party terms are stated to apply, the terms of the Commons Creative Licence – which is available at Creative Commons.
10.5 Please note that the text in weADAPT and microsite articles and case studies that are associated with uploaded publications very closely reflect the content of that publication. However, this text has often been edited from its original form.
10.6 If you wish to quote text, please refer to the original text in the publication, not text in the weADAPT page of the article/case study.
11 INFORMATION ON WEBSITE
11.1 The content and contributions on the Website (whether provided by us or any third party) is provided for general information only. It is not intended to amount to advice on which you should rely and we do not endorse any of the content or contributions. You may wish to obtain professional or specialist advice before taking, or refraining from, any action on the basis of the content or contributions on the Website.
11.2 We make reasonable efforts to update the information on the Website and to ensure that information provided by third parties is accurate and not misleading.
11.3 We, however, make no representations, warranties or guarantees, whether express or implied, that the content or contributions on the Website are accurate, complete or up to date.
12 OUTSIDE CONTENT
12.1 We are not responsible for the content of external or third-party websites that may be accessible or displayed through external links on the Website. Any links should not be interpreted as approval by us of those linked websites or information you may obtain from them.
12.2 Navigating to outside websites through links on the Website is done at your sole risk. We have no control over the contents of those sites or resources.
12.3 We expressly disclaim any liability for any content that appears on any external site.
13 USER-GENERATED CONTENT IS NOT APPROVED BY US
The Website may include information and materials contributed by other users of the site, including but not limited to reviews and comments. The views expressed by other users on our site do not represent our views or values.
14 HOW TO RAISE A CONTENT ISSUE
If you wish to raise an issue about any of the content on the Website please contact us using the details above.
15 ASSUMPTION OF RISK/DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
15.1 We make no guarantee of the veracity or appropriateness of any user-created content or contribution on the Website.
15.2 You acknowledge that we assume no responsibility for oversight or monitoring of the user-created content or contribution that appears on the Website.
15.3 We make no warranty that the Website will meet your individual needs, or that service will be timely, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
15.4 You understand that any information or data downloaded through the Website is done at your sole risk.

17 YOUR CONDUCT AND CONTRIBUTIONS
17.1 Whenever you make contact with other users of our site or us (e.g. through forums), or otherwise make any contribution to the Website (e.g. upload content) you must comply with the standards set out in these Terms.
17.2 We have the right to remove any comments or contribution you make if, in our opinion, it does not comply with our standards.
17.3 You confirm that you have the right to publish any contribution on the Website and agree for it to be reproduced and made publicly available on the Website by us.
17.4 Your comments and contributions must:
17.4.1 be accurate (where it is factual in nature);
17.4.2 be genuinely held (where it states an opinion); and
17.4.3 comply in all aspects with the laws of England and Wales (in addition to the laws of any country from where it is posted).
17.5 Your comments and contributions must not (without limit):
17.5.1 advocate or express political view;
17.5.2 be defamatory of any person;
17.5.3 be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
17.5.4 bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person;
17.5.5 promote sexually explicit material, violence, discrimination, or any illegal activity;
17.5.6 infringe the intellectual property rights of any other person;
17.5.7 be likely to deceive any person;
17.5.8 breach any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence;
17.5.9 be in contempt of court;
17.5.10 be threatening, abuse or invade another’s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety;
17.5.11 be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person.
17.5.12 impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person;
17.5.13 give the impression that the contribution emanates from us, if this is not the case;
17.5.14 advocate, promote, incite any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act; or
17.5.15 contain any advertising or promote any services or web links to other sites.
17.6 You are solely responsible for securing and backing up your contributions, we will not be responsible for any contribution which is lost or otherwise unavailable.
18 AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES
18.1 We amend these terms from time to time. Every time you wish to use the Website, please check these terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time.
18.2 If any part of these terms are found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable then the remainder of the terms will remain in full force and effect.
18.3 We may update and change the Website from time to time to reflect changes to our services, our users’ needs and our priorities.
18.4 The Website is made available free of charge. We do not guarantee that the Website, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We may suspend or withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of the Website for strategic and operational reasons.
18.5 You are responsible for ensuring that you have the technology necessary to access and use the Website. We may change the technical requirements for using our site from time to time.
18.6 You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access our site through your internet connection are aware of these terms and other applicable terms and conditions, and that they comply with them.
19 SECURITY
19.1 We do not guarantee that the Website will be secure or free from bugs or viruses.
19.2 You are responsible for configuring your information technology, computer programmes and platform to access the Website. You should use your own virus protection software.
19.3 You must not misuse the Website by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful.
19.4 You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the server on which the Website is stored or any server, computer or database connected to the Website.
19.5 You must not attack the Website via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack.
19.6 If you use an account or other security information to access the Website, you must not share that information with any other person and must treat it as confidential.
19.7 If you provide any information to us when creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide to us is accurate, complete and not misleading.
19.8 You must notify us if you suspect anyone may be misusing your access to the Website, or your security information has been compromised.
19.9 We have the right to disable any account or access to the Website at any time, if in our reasonable opinion there is a security risk or you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these terms or if we suspend or amend our services.
20 LINKING TO THIS WEBSITE
20.1 You may link to the Website provided that you do so in a way that indicates that the link is to the www.weadapt.org website or its microsites and is fair and not misleading.
20.2 You must not integrate or make use of all or part of the Website in ways that would confuse or mislead other users to the nature and origin of the Website’s content.
20.3 You must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists.
20.4 You must not establish a link to the Website in any website that is not owned by you.
20.5 The Website must not be framed on any other site, nor may you create a link to any part of the Website other than the home page.
20.6 We reserve the right to withdraw linking permission without notice.
20.7 The website in which you are linking must comply in all respects with the content standards set out in these terms.

21 REPORTING ABUSE
To report abuse of the Website, including a post containing libellous, vulgar, threatening or misleading information, misappropriation of content, or any other inappropriate use, please click on the “Contact” link at the bottom all pages throughout the Website.
