This Network, managed by the KE4CAP project, provides a space for adaptation knowledge platform operators and managers to connect and learn from one another.
On Tuesday 7th of May, 2024, an exclusive MAIA 3rd Policy-Science Dialogue was held with the RegionsAdapt Community of Practice and the MAIA project partners to address how to strengthen the policy-science exchanges for building more robust adaptation strategies, looking at the practical example and inputs to the draft third Scottish National Adaptation Plan (2024-2029).
The recent MAIA Project's 2nd Policy Roundtable in Brussels gathered key figures, including representatives from the European Commission, Lombardy Region's, and experts from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Occitanie, and the Pyrenean Climate Change Observatory, advocating for effective climate change adaptation.
The Climate Adaptation Platform for the Alps (CAPA) platform supports decision-makers in Alpine countries, regions and municipalities in adapting to climate change.
RCCAP is a web portal that provides access to climate data, and guidance material to support climate-resilient development in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
Adapt2climate aims to make available existing information on climate change impacts, vulnerability assessments and adaptation in Belgium.
As the need for adaptation action and for enabling adaptation policy progress, it is increasingly recognised that decision and policymakers require access to relevant and high-quality information to support the development and implementation of national and transnational adaptation strategies and plans, and climate actions. These requirements are also recognised within, and seen as consistent with, implementing the Paris Agreement.
Web-based climate change adaptation platforms provide a vital means of providing access to meet these requirements; sharing information, evidence and guidance consistent with supporting decision making for adaptation planning at local, national, and transnational scales, and targeting policy- and decision-makers. Internationally, these knowledge platforms are at different stages of development and capabilities (from early planning of new platforms through to advanced platforms being relaunched), and all face a number of challenges that limit their effectiveness in supporting climate action.
This Network, managed by the Stepping-Up Knowledge Exchange between Climate Adaptation Knowledge Platforms (KE4CAP) project, aims to support platform developers and operators to come together and compare and learn from current approaches, to share knowledge and best practices, learning and working together to address common and emerging challenges and ultimately to deliver the best support possible for climate adaptation.
