MAIA project partner, I-CHANGE, launches its innovative ChallengeYeti App
The I-CHANGE project, a partner of the MAIA project, has launched a new online application, the ChallengeYeti app. This app reimagines how individuals understand and reduce their carbon footprint, making it easier to take actions that contribute to fighting climate change.
The app goes beyond traditional carbon footprint calculators, which often provide a lot of data to users but stop short at actionable insights. Instead, ChallengeYeti empowers individuals to make tangible changes in their daily lives. By suggesting small, manageable steps that collectively have a significant impact, ChallengeYeti makes sustainable living more accessible and engaging for everyone.
How is ChallengeYeti different?
- Beyond carbon calculators: Unlike traditional calculators, ChallengeYeti inspires users to take tangible steps towards an eco-friendly lifestyle. For example, riding a bicycle to work instead of using a car.
- Incremental changes: The app promotes small, manageable actions that collectively lead to significant environmental benefits.
- Community Engagement: ChallengeYeti encourages users to involve friends, family, and colleagues, creating a supportive and motivating environment.
- Knowledge Sharing: Users can discover and contribute new actions like preparing delicious recipes to reduce the meat they eat, and so on. In this way they can actively participate in the journey towards sustainability.
To take the Yeti Challenge, users can sign up at challengeyeti.com/signup. This allows everyone to become part of a dynamic community that’s committed to sustainability, as well as to create real-time personalised information on their individual carbon and environmental footprints.
“It is difficult to switch from Yeti to something less fun,” remarks one of the co-developers from the I-CHANGE project, highlighting the app’s engaging and enjoyable approach to environmental action.
About I-CHANGE:
The I-CHANGE project (Individual Change of Habits Needed for Green European Transition) is a European Horizon 2020 initiative running for 3.5 years, starting from 1 November 2021. It aims to engage citizens actively in addressing climate change, sustainable development, and environmental protection within the framework of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Pact, and the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. ICHANGE’s activities are deeply rooted in real society, facilitated through interaction, co-development, and cooperation with eight interactive Living Labs across Europe, Israel, and Burkina Faso.
